Hakkasan – San Francisco

by Suha on February 25, 2013

I often have people say – but it is a chain restaurant – cant be good. Or – I am not paying that much for Chinese? But to me it is the whole package. I really enjoy dining here. Hakkasan is the upscale Chinese institution with restaurants in a number of cities including London, Dubai, Bombay and the NYC one with a michelin star. It opened in San Francisco in December 2012. It is a huge 170 seater restaurant but still booked out every night. They apparently spent 7 million on the fit out and it has a great ambiance. The cocktails are great and for the starters I enjoyed the crisp duck salad and quail. For the mains the braised pork bely with aged vinegar sauce and the black truffle roasted duck were to die for. The desserts were really great too and especially the chocolate orange ball where they pour hot choc sauce over it on the table and it melts…yum.
