Daniel – NYC

by Suha on July 13, 2011

On this trip I had just one night in NYC and had to pick just one restaurant so I decided why not Daniel. It is the favorite restaurant of my NYC foodie friends, 3 Michelin stars, 4 New York times stars and no 11 in the world top 50. So why not – you never know what happens to you tomorrow 🙂
The restaurant, the ambiance, the wine, the service and the food were amazing. We decided to have the 6 course degustation menu. Interesting this menu had a choice of two in each course so my friend and myself decided to have each so we landed up tasting 12 dishes. Great!
Every single dish was stunning and Daniel Boulud is a star. However I must say it did not blow me away. There are other restaurants where I remember every dish and describe them to others for months but nothing really stood out to me here. Also I find that the European 3 star restaurants do it with so much more style. They really spoil you, treat you like royalty and do everything with such elegance that they do put their US counterparts to shame. Don’t get me wrong – it was a stunning meal and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a Boulud experience.
