Schoren – St Gallen

by Suha on March 26, 2011

Yes finding a great restaurant in St Gallen can be a challenge however I must say we were pleasantly surprised by Schoren. Even thought their website and menu are only in German and nobody at the restaurant spoke English – we managed to order the right things and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The chef was really friendly and even made sure we got home safe that night. A lovely meal and would definitely go back again.

Rabbit with scampi and garlic butter spaghetti – this dish was so clever and really nice. Never had this combination before and sure was a surf and turf. Soft perfectly cooked meat.

Gefullte perlhuhnschenkel with perigord sauce – thigh of guinea fowl with a black truffle sauce. Ok I had no idea what meat I was ordering but then asked a German friend the next day who said it was guinea fowl. It was amazing. The fact that is was stuffed with black truffles and covered with a black truffle sauce made it the best dish of the night by far.

Chocolate fondant – one of the best I have had. Totally soft in the centre and rich intense chocolate. Divine

Tarte tartin…came with white coffee ice cream although would have preferred vanilla bean
