Spirit House – Sunshine Coast – Queensland

A couple had a vision and passion and made it happen. They bought a 5 acre plot of land in the hinterland off the Sunshine coast of Queensland and spend 5 years developing a beautiful tropical garden setting and a Thai restaurant. To call it just another Thai restaurant in an understatement. It is amazing. The setting is magical, the service is friendly and food stunning! Even after 16 years – every dish we had was amazing. The menu is centered around a sharing concept. There were four of us today but we wanted to order everything on the menu so had a bit of a problem choosing. At the end I think we did well. All the flavours were fresh and strong and varied and we were envious of every dish that went by our table that we had not ordered. I wish it was closer to Sydney! Highly recommend The Spirit house. Sensational food…great setting.

Spiced crisp whitebait with green pawpaw salad with chilli lime sauce – the salad in this dish was just outstanding – thinly sliced green pawpaw or mango in season, sliced raw onions, mint, basil, lime. Chilli. Cashews….very hot but very nice.

Soft shell crab with chilli garlic sauce – not quite sure about this one. Was a bit dry and chewy for me

Char grilled beef ribs with sweet chilli dressing and orange mint salad. – love their salads. Really nice and fresh. The ribs were perfectly cooked – crunchy and soft all in one.

 Whole crispy fish with tamarind chilli sauce – amazing – and we ate every bit of flesh we could get off. Yum.

Lemon grass curry of chicken with kaffir lime – a lot of turmeric in this dish.

Chocolate orange cake with red been ice cream – what a pleasant surprise!!!!!! This was sensational. Warm chocolate orange cake with orange sauce and thinly sliced candied orange peels. So so so good!!!!!!
