Gastro Park – Potts Point – Sydney

by Suha on September 18, 2011

Chef Grant King ex Pier has created a stir in Sydney. Everyone is talking about Gastro Park. Innovative is the first work that comes to mind. Amazing combinations and great presentation. Loved it. Small room on the ground floor of the Barcelona building in the cross, it has a relaxed casual atmosphere and friendly service. There were so many things we wanted to try on the menu. Loved everything we ordered though. Love to go back. We spent almost 5 hours here over dinner and enjoyed the wine list and the fact that we could actually hear each other talk.

Seared scallops, Serrano ham, crème carrot, endive caramel, marcona almond

Textures of duck with local wild mushrooms tagliatelle

Saddle of lamb, textures of artichoke and mushrooms

Seared king George whiting, octopus, cavalo nero, chorizo, preserved lemon, butter sand

Crispy scaled snapper, smoked potato puree, calamari crackling, ink sauce – a dish written up numerous times. The snapper is perfectly cooked with really crisp fish scales. Apparently they are done by pushing the scales back and covering them in hot oil till they are edible and crisp. What look like prawn crackers are black calamari cracklings….great dish.

Nitro pavlova, guava, pineapple, coconut

Pain perdu, caramelized apple, balsamic ice cream

Chocolate, honeycomb, mandarin sphere, cookies and cream – totally yum. Loved the surprise when you crack with sphere and chocolate oozes out…..oh my god…..yum

Lovely fresh soft bread with soft butter and sea salt
